About CogniVertex

We build applied cognitive AI infrastructure for Canadian organisations that need production systems—not marketing experiments.

Our mission

CogniVertex exists to close the gap between AI hype and operational reality. Too many vendors sell creative campaigns or one-off chatbot demos that never reach production. We take the opposite approach: structured programs, integration engineering, and a platform designed for governance, observability, and long-term maintainability.

Founded in Kitchener, Ontario, we draw on the region's deep engineering talent and proximity to Toronto-Waterloo innovation corridors. Our team combines software engineering, data science, and operational experience from regulated industries including financial services, healthcare administration, and public sector. We are proud to build Canadian cognitive AI capability from our home province.

We are incorporated in Ontario (BN 839284756ON0001) and operate from our King Street East campus in downtown Kitchener.

Leadership

Dr. Amara Okonkwo — Founder & Platform Lead

Dr. Okonkwo spent twelve years building enterprise data platforms at major Canadian banks before founding CogniVertex. She holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Waterloo with research focused on information retrieval and human-computer interaction.

"Organisations do not need another agency promising transformation through slide decks," she notes. "They need engineers who understand both cognitive systems and the operational constraints of regulated environments. That is what we build at CogniVertex."

Under her direction, the platform has supported document intelligence deployments for mid-market insurers, knowledge operations for municipal governments, and orchestration pilots for manufacturing supply-chain teams across Ontario and Quebec.

CogniVertex maintains a deliberately small leadership team supplemented by senior platform engineers, integration specialists, and programme instructors. We hire for depth in production systems—not for agency-style account management layers that inflate cost without improving outcomes. Every customer engagement is led by technical staff who can speak credibly about architecture, governance, and deployment trade-offs with your engineering and compliance teams.

Values that guide our work

Our operating principles shape every programme curriculum, integration sprint, and governance review we deliver. They reflect the standards we hold ourselves to when deploying cognitive systems in regulated Canadian environments.

Transparency

We document model versions, confidence scores, and failure modes. Clients receive audit packages suitable for privacy and compliance review—not black-box demos.

Canadian sovereignty

Data residency defaults to Canadian regions. Cross-border processing requires explicit configuration and documented rationale under PIPEDA.

Capability transfer

Our goal is to make your team self-sufficient. Programs and services emphasise knowledge transfer over perpetual dependency.

Community engagement

We sponsor Kitchener-Waterloo meetups on responsible AI deployment and contribute anonymised evaluation benchmarks to Canadian public-sector innovation forums. Our campus hosts quarterly open briefings for qualified organisations exploring cognitive AI adoption.
